Guidelines for contributors

General instructions: Publication in Nagaland University Research Journal is open to faculty members and Research Scholars of the Nagaland University. However, research papers are also invited from outside Nagaland particularly from the Universities in the North East. The manuscripts for publication should not exceed 15 pages typed in single-space with 1.5 inch margin on all sides onA4 size paper. The manuscript should be sent in MS-Word format in CD along with the hard copy of the paper. The text should be in single-column format and the article should be in Times New Roman font with font size of 11. The author should use British English in their article. Clarity, brevity and consciousness are essential in form, style, punctuation, spelling and use of italics. Numerical data, calculations should be carefully checked before submission. Only unpublished original research paper(s) shall be accepted.

Declaration: The author should submit a declaration citing that the work described has not been published previously (except in the form of an abstract or as a part of a published lecture or academic thesis).

  • Author may submit names of three potential referees with their addresses, phone no. and e-mail, however, the Editorial Board retains the sole right to decide whether or not the suggested reviewer services will be utilized. Research scholars may submit the article through their respective supervisors.
  • Article structure: Divide your article into clearly defined sections and sub-sections.
  • Title: It should be brief, expressive and specific.
  • Author(s) name and address: The name of the author(s) unaccompanied by their degrees, titles should be written on the text line after the title of the paper followed by the name(s) and address(es), postal (including Telephone, Fax No., E-mail) of the institution where the work was done. If the work is done elsewhere, the present address should be given at the bottom of the first page marked with an asterisk. If the paper is a part of their research thesis/dissertation, the same should be written at the bottom of the first page, with an asterisk on the title of the paper.
  • Abstract: Each full length paper should contain an abstract not exceeding 150 words that includes the salient features of the study.
  • Keywords: Every article should be accompanied by Keywords exceeding not more than five.
  • Text: The content of the paper should be clear and precise. As far as possible, it should include an Introduction, Materials and Methods, Results and Discussions.All measurements must be in metric system with per unit expression in the form - kg/ha, etc. Altitude, longitude and latitude of the experimental site should be given in parenthesis. Generic and specific names should be underlined throughout the manuscript and the first reference to the latter should be followed by the name of the author.
  • Tables, Figures and Graphs: Each table, figure and graph should have a heading stating its contents clearly and concisely and the references to these are to be clearly mentioned in the text. Figures and charts, if any should be professionally drawn using such materials such as, black ink on transparent papers, use of particular softwares etc. that offers high image resolutions when reproduced. Each figure/ illustration must be specifically referred in the text accompanied by their respective captions and should be large enough to permit reduction without losing resolution details. Text figures are to be numbered in Arabic in order of their References. Captions and legends to figures must be typed on a separate sheet and attached at the end of the manuscript. The conclusion of the paper should be brief and precise in line with their discussion and the data produced should be representative.
  • The content of article solely rest with the author.
  • The act of copyright violation, copying and plagiarism will be the sole responsibility of the author.
  • Acknowledgment: If needed, financial, technical, administrative assistance may duly be acknowledged briefly.
  • References: Reference style of the article and text citation should follow the APA citation style as briefly given below. However, for more information, contributors are requested to please visit: http://www.apastyle.org

Note:

  • Short communications: Short research notes should normally not exceed 5 typed pages and should be without sub-sections like introduction, materials and methods, etc. Graphs and figures should be avoided and tables if necessary be kept to the minimum sizes.
  • Manuscript for publication can be submitted to the respective Campus in-charge (as per circular) who are Editorial Board members of the journal.
  • The journal will be printed in black and white; however, if the author wishes to publish any pages of their article in colour, the cost towards its printing will be borne by the respective authors as per the quoted rates of the press.
